Be a Disciple!

The Vision of Rosary Cathedral Parish is to become a vibrant Roman Catholic Parish forming Missionary Disciples.

But, what is a “Missionary Disciple”?  How can I be a part of achieving this vision?

Here are the characteristics of being a missionary disciple that the Pastoral Council of Rosary Cathedral is exploring:

  • Sharing Faith
  • Continuous Conversion
  • Lifelong Learning
  • Building Community
  • Sacrificial Giving

Sharing Faith

“Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations.” (Matthew 28:19)

A missionary disciple has a relationship with God that inspires them to tell others about their faith. Talking about the faith is an essential part of the Christian life.

  • St. Vincent de Paul Society
  • St. Paul Street Evangelization

Continuous Conversion

“Whoever wishes to come after me must deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me.” (Matthew 16:24)

Following Christ is a lifelong process that is never completed on this side of heaven. The process of becoming more like Christ is at the heart of the Christian life.

Recommendations for living this characteristic:

  • ALPHA
  • Confession
  • Daily Mass
  • RCIA

Lifelong Learning

“Let us leave behind the basic teaching about Christ and advance to maturity.” (Hebrews 6:1)

Learning about the faith is a lifelong process. We never graduate from discovering the truth about God.

  • Missions/Retreats

Building Community

“For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.” (Matthew 18:20)

We all desire to love and be loved. We work this out through the messiness of community. Take a risk and get to know others at the parish!

  • Epiphany Party
  • Men’s Fellowship
  • Parish Picnic
  • Women’s Fellowship

Sacrificial Giving

“God loves a cheerful giver.” (2 Corinthians 9:7)

We “cannot fully find [ourselves] except through a sincere gift of [self]” (Gaudium et Spes 24). We are all called to give of our time, talent, and treasure.
